Journey down the Nongsa River in a fisherman’s boat and see the rich mangrove forests and waterways. These mangrove forests serve to protect the coast from erosion, trapping sediments in water flowing off the land and helping to create our clear blue coastal waters.
Along the way, you will see a myriad of colourful flowers and fruits, and a host of exotic wildlife such as the Macaque and Silver Leaf monkeys, monitor lizards and poisonous mangrove snakes. Keep your eyes peeled, as you will see the latter taking a deep-snooze on the tree branches.
You can also catch the yellow-coloured Indonesian bird, burung bangau (little egret), or the berang berang (beaver) eat fish, and in the water, you will see crabs, prawns, mud lobsters, snails, mudskippers and small fish. There is a guide at all times to make sure the group is together and to answer any questions.
The Mangrove Tour can accommodate a minimum of 10 people. The total tour will take at least three hours as there are lots to see and fresh air to enjoy!
TRAVELLER'S NOTE: Don't forget your camera as you will not be able to get that ideal wildlife shot again! Or just snap some pictures of your friends enjoying the boat ride.
